Washington, June 24: President Donald Trump has asserted that Iran has agreed not to develop nuclear weapons. He described this agreement as part of a historic peace deal aimed at reducing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz. Trump emphasized that Tehran’s military capabilities have been significantly weakened.
During a recent event, Trump stated that preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons has been a primary goal of his administration. He told staff and supporters, “As you know, we have reached a historic peace agreement with Iran to end the conflict in the Strait of Hormuz.”
The President noted that this agreement has helped stabilize energy supplies through one of the world’s most strategically important maritime routes. Trump mentioned, “Yesterday, 19 million barrels of oil passed through the Strait. This was the highest flow of oil in the history of this strait.”
He added, “Most importantly, we are ensuring that Iran will never have nuclear weapons, and they have agreed to this.” Trump also claimed that Iran’s military structure has suffered considerable damage.
“We are leaving Iran without a navy, without an air force, without anti-aircraft systems, without missile capabilities, and without a nuclear program. We are leaving them without any nuclear capability, and they have agreed to this,” he stated.
Trump argued that previous U.S. administrations had failed to resolve this issue. He remarked, “Remember, it wasn’t easy. For 47 years, presidents and others were in power, and there were other countries involved. We weren’t the only ones who did nothing.”
Additionally, the President claimed that Iran’s economy and defense sector have also been severely impacted. He stated, “Iran’s economy is devastated, and their defense industrial base has been so severely damaged that it will take them years to rebuild.”
In his speech, Trump indicated that this conflict was necessary to prevent broader instability in the Middle East. He said, “We had to take this path. You cannot allow them to devastate the entire Middle East, and then possibly us.”
Referring to military actions against Iran’s nuclear facilities, Trump praised U.S. operations. He noted, “Everyone understands that ‘the Hammer’ (tough action) was necessary. We saw what happened to their nuclear capability from B-2 bombers, and it was truly a ‘Hammer’ action.”
Trump also suggested that Washington is ready to engage in further discussions with Tehran. He stated, “I think they will be fine. They will do what they need to do because we want that to happen.”
Currently, Trump’s comments come at a time when international attention remains focused on Iran’s nuclear program and security in the Gulf region.
