Truck Overturns in Tehri District, Disrupting Traffic Flow

Tehri, May 2: A truck loaded with cement overturned in the Ghansali area of Tehri district, Uttarakhand, causing significant traffic disruptions on the route. Officials reported the incident on Saturday.

Upon receiving the alert, police arrived at the scene and took necessary steps to restore traffic flow. Authorities confirmed that there have been no reports of injuries related to the accident.

The incident caused considerable obstruction on the Jakhdhar-Pokhal section of NH-707A, prompting the administration to divert traffic to manage congestion.

Officials stated, “Traffic has been disrupted on the Jakhdhar-Pokhal (NH-707A) route following the truck overturning. Police have been deployed at the site, and efforts to restore traffic are ongoing.”

As part of traffic management measures, vehicles heading from Chamba and Tehri towards Maletha have been redirected via Tipri to Hindolakhal, then towards Devprayag. Similarly, vehicles traveling from Maletha to Chamba and Tehri are also being diverted to ease congestion towards Devprayag.

Police teams are stationed at the accident site, working to remove the vehicle and facilitate smooth traffic flow. Authorities have urged travelers to use alternative routes and cooperate with personnel managing the situation.

In a separate incident on May 1, a tempo traveler en route from Delhi to Gangotri met with an accident near Nagaraja Dhar on the Nagun-Suwakholi motorway.

Five passengers were injured and were transported to the community health center in Chinyali Saur with the help of the 108 ambulance service. Reports indicate that the tempo traveler was carrying 23 passengers when it experienced sudden brake failure around 2:15 PM, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle subsequently collided with a hillside.

Officials noted that the vehicle ended up stuck in a roadside drain rather than falling into a deep gorge, preventing a potentially more serious accident.
