Tragic Stampede at Ashok Dham Temple Claims Seven Lives in Bihar

Patna, August 17: A tragic stampede occurred at the Ashok Dham Temple in Lakhisarai during the third Monday of the Sawan festival, resulting in the deaths of seven devotees. Local MLA and Bihar government minister Vijay Kumar Sinha expressed his sorrow over the incident and announced that he would visit the site personally. He assured that an investigation would be conducted and those responsible would face action.

Speaking to a news agency, Minister Sinha described the event as “very unfortunate.” He explained that the chaos erupted after a pole and electrical wires fell outside the temple premises. Rumors of an electric shock spread, leading to the stampede.

“We have communicated with the district magistrate and temple administration. We are heading there to assess the situation. An investigation will be carried out, and necessary actions will be taken against those at fault. I have also spoken with the Chief Minister and instructed the administration to prioritize medical arrangements,” Sinha stated.

He noted that everything was normal until a conversation at 5 AM. “We run a relief camp at Ashok Dham. I had seen everything was fine via video call. The incident occurred after 6:00 to 6:30 AM. Most of the victims are local residents. We will certainly provide assistance to the affected families, and the government will stand by them,” he added.

Bihar’s Cooperation Minister Ramkripal Yadav commented on the incident, stating, “The stampede has resulted in the deaths of seven individuals. This is an extremely tragic and serious event. I pay my respects to the deceased and extend my condolences to their families.”

Minister Yadav emphasized the need for an investigation, assuring that the government would take necessary actions against those found guilty.
