Tragic Road Accident Near Dhar Claims Lives of Six Young Men from Gujarat

Bhopal, August 9: A devastating road accident occurred on the Dhar-Ujjain-Petalawad four-lane highway near Panchkawasa village in Madhya Pradesh on Sunday. Six young men from the Gujarat districts of Godhra and Panchmahal lost their lives in this horrific incident.

The victims were returning home after visiting the Mahakal Temple in Ujjain.

According to police reports, the accident took place around 1:00 PM when a van carrying seven young men (registration number GJ17CK6134) was heading towards Gujarat. A trailer loaded with iron materials (registration number GJ39TB9248) was speeding in the wrong direction on the Badnagar-Ujjain route and collided head-on with the oncoming van.

The impact was so severe that the van was completely crushed.

Out of the six individuals in the van, five died at the scene, while the sixth, who was critically injured, succumbed to his injuries en route to the hospital.

Dhar’s ASP Vijay Dabur informed the news agency that the deceased have been identified as Nitesh Bhai, son of Prakash Bhai (Godhra); Mayur Kumar Chauhan, son of Prakash Bhai (Godhra); Vishal Kumar, son of Ramesh Bhai Parmar (Panchmahal); and Rakesh, son of Bhupat Bhai (Godhra). The identities of two other victims are still pending.

The trailer driver fled the scene immediately after the accident. Upon receiving the information, Badnagar Police Station Chief Amit Singh Kushwaha, Tehsildar Suresh Nagar, and SDM Priyanka Mimarod arrived with a police team, pursued the driver, and apprehended him.

Local villagers and police officers broke the van’s windows and worked diligently to retrieve the bodies and the injured individual. The critically injured person was transported to Badnagar Civil Hospital for treatment but unfortunately did not survive.

The police conducted a formal investigation at the scene. The bodies of all six deceased have been placed in the civil hospital’s mortuary for post-mortem examinations.

Authorities have informed the families of the victims identified in Gujarat about this tragic incident.

A case has been registered against the trailer driver.

The accident temporarily disrupted traffic on the four-lane highway, but police cleared the debris and restored normal traffic flow.
