New Delhi, August 9: The Rajasthan Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has detained a young man named Wasit from Tonk on suspicion of links to a terrorist organization. This action comes as security agencies investigate a potential active terrorist network in the state.
Sources indicate that Wasit has been taken to Jaipur for questioning and may be brought to Delhi for further interrogation. Investigators are also looking into whether he had contact with a handler associated with the Pakistan-based group Jaish-e-Mohammed.
ATS teams conducted a search at Wasit’s home in Tonk as part of the investigation. During the search, officials seized digital devices and information related to bank accounts and financial transactions.
The items found during the search will be examined, as investigators attempt to determine the nature and extent of any suspicious connections. Authorities hope to uncover any potential links to the banned terrorist organization through digital communications and financial records.
As of now, there has been no official confirmation from the Rajasthan ATS regarding Wasit’s detention or the specific charges against him. The investigation is ongoing, and the true nature of his connections to the organization remains to be determined.
Earlier in June, the Rajasthan ATS arrested Babita Dhakad from Jaipur based on intelligence received from military sources, alleging her ties to Jaish-e-Mohammed. She is also known by the name Khadija.
Investigators claimed that Dhakad was in contact with individuals linked to the terrorist organization via social media and messaging platforms. Her electronic devices and online communications were scrutinized during the investigation.
Originally from the Sawai Madhopur/Gangapur City area of Rajasthan, Dhakad was arrested when intelligence revealed her suspected connections with extremist elements outside India.
