Odisha CM Mohan Chandra Majhi Urges 45 Million Residents to Proudly Hoist National Flag

Bhubaneswar, August 9: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Chandra Majhi launched the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga‘ campaign in Bhubaneswar on Sunday, coinciding with ‘August Kranti Diwas.’
During the event, he appealed to the 45 million residents of Odisha to proudly display the national flag from August 9 to 17 in every village, panchayat, city, home, school, and office across the state.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the ‘Quit India’ movement, which began on August 9, 1942, from Mumbai’s August Kranti Maidan, gave a new direction to the freedom struggle.
Paying tribute to freedom fighters, brave martyrs, and the immortal sons of Odisha, Majhi stated that the national flag, ‘Tiranga,’ symbolizes the self-respect, pride, and hopes of 1.4 billion Indians. The saffron color represents courage and sacrifice, the white signifies peace and truth, while the green symbolizes prosperity. The Ashoka Chakra at the center teaches us to continually advance on the path of duty.
To make this national festival fully eco-friendly, the Chief Minister called for a complete boycott of plastic flags and urged the use of only fabric flags.
A vibrant rally was organized for the occasion. Students from various schools and colleges, scouts and guides, as well as NCC and NSS volunteers marched in an orderly manner, proudly holding the Tiranga. Cultural groups from different parts of Odisha showcased their traditional folk dances and arts.
The Chief Minister participated in the procession, chanting ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ alongside prominent athletes and thousands of students.
Addressing the state’s Gen-Z and youth, Majhi warned that in today’s digital age, some external forces, invisible enemies, misuse social media and drugs to mislead the younger generation. He assured that these harmful and invisible forces would never succeed in their motives.
He advised the youth to avoid falling into these traps and prioritize patriotism, declaring that the only voice of the youth is the security of the nation.
The Chief Minister noted that Odisha’s role will be crucial in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Developed India 2047.’
With contributions from the state’s farmers, laborers, youth, and self-reliant women, Odisha will become a key engine for the country’s economic and industrial development.
On Independence Day, the Chief Minister urged the public to honor the families of brave soldiers and police personnel dedicated to the nation’s security with pride.
