Tragic Road Accident in Lakhimpur Kheri: President Murmu and PM Modi Express Condolences, Financial Aid Announced

New Delhi, May 18: President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have expressed their sorrow over a tragic road accident in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh. The central government has also announced financial assistance for the families of the victims through the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund.

The President’s office shared condolences on social media platform X, stating, “The news of the deaths in the road accident in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh, is extremely saddening. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones. I wish for the speedy recovery of the injured.”

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) quoted PM Modi expressing his deep sorrow regarding the incident. “I am deeply saddened to hear about the accident in Lakhimpur Kheri. My condolences go out to those who have lost their loved ones. I pray to God for the swift recovery of the injured. Each family of the deceased will receive a compensation of ₹2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund, and the injured will receive ₹50,000.”

Earlier, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also expressed his grief, describing the loss of life in this unfortunate accident as extremely tragic and heartbreaking. He extended his sympathies to the bereaved families and directed local administration to provide prompt and adequate assistance to the injured and affected. He prayed to Lord Shri Ram to grant peace to the departed souls and quick recovery to the injured.

The accident in Lakhimpur Kheri involved a high-speed truck colliding head-on with a van, resulting in the death of nine individuals. The collision occurred near Sisaiya on NH-730 in the Isanagar police station area. According to officials, the impact was so severe that the van was completely destroyed.
