Tragic Road Accident in Coimbatore Claims Five Lives

Coimbatore, August 2: A heart-wrenching incident occurred in Coimbatore district, Tamil Nadu, on Sunday. Around 1:00 PM, a severe road accident took place near Nallampalli Pirivu on the Pollachi-Udumalpet Road (NH-83) within the Gomangalam police station area, resulting in the deaths of five individuals.

Initial investigations revealed that the victims were traveling in a Maruti Suzuki Celerio when their vehicle collided with a stationary water tank positioned in the middle of the road, which was being used to water plants. The impact was so intense that all five occupants suffered critical injuries and died at the scene.

The deceased have been identified as K. Nagaraj, Purnani, Narmatha, and Aarti, all residents of MLA Street in Madukkarai Market, Coimbatore. The fifth victim, Jabi Raman, was 35 years old and also from Madukkarai. The bodies have been sent to the government hospital in Pollachi for post-mortem and further legal formalities.

Upon receiving the information, the Superintendent of Police for Coimbatore district, along with the Deputy Superintendent of Police for the Pollachi subdivision and the Inspector of Gomangalam police station, promptly arrived at the scene to assess the situation and initiate an investigation.

The Gomangalam police have commenced legal proceedings and are continuing their inquiry to determine the exact causes of the accident.
