
Los Angeles, February 14: A tragic plane crash in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, has resulted in the deaths of at least three individuals, according to initial reports from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has confirmed via X that it is investigating the incident. The crash involved a small aircraft known as the Epic Aircraft E-1000, a single-engine, six-seat turboprop plane. The accident occurred around 12:20 AM local time near Emerald Mountain. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain unclear.
Routt County Sheriff Doug Scherar stated that efforts are ongoing to identify the deceased and notify their families.
In a separate incident, a small jet crash in Statesville, North Carolina, claimed the lives of seven people. According to police, this accident took place at a regional airport.
Among the victims were former NASCAR driver Greg Biffle, his wife, and their two children. The FAA reported that a Cessna C-550 jet crashed while attempting to land at approximately 10:20 AM Eastern Time on Thursday, resulting in a significant fire.
Flight tracking website FlightAware indicated that the aircraft had taken off shortly after 10 AM but later attempted to return and land.
Video footage captured rescue teams rushing towards the runway, where the wreckage was engulfed in flames.
John Ferguson, the manager of Statesville Regional Airport, informed reporters that the FAA has taken over the investigation at the crash site. He noted that the airport will remain closed until further notice, as it will take time to clear the debris and ensure the runway is safe again.
