Mumbai, March 14: Senior BJP legislator Sudhir Mungantiwar has urged the state government to release a white paper on all agricultural schemes, including the Nanaji Deshmukh Agricultural Sanjeevani Scheme. This request was made during a discussion in the Assembly on Friday, aimed at dispelling rumors and misconceptions among farmers.
Responding to the discussion initiated under Rule 293, State Agriculture Minister Dattatraya Bharne presented the government’s stance. Mungantiwar emphasized that despite significant investments in the Nanaji Deshmukh Agricultural Sanjeevani Scheme and other agricultural initiatives, misinformation continues to circulate among farmers.
He pointed out that from 2014 to 2026, the state government has implemented several crucial and revolutionary schemes in the agricultural sector, with substantial funding. Mungantiwar noted that the budget allocated for agriculture during this period is the highest since 1960.
Despite these efforts, some individuals are misleading farmers. Therefore, he demanded that the government publicly disclose detailed information about all activities in the agricultural sector through a white paper.
Mungantiwar also insisted that the presence of the department’s secretary should be mandatory during discussions or responses related to agricultural matters in the Assembly. He remarked that often, despite the rights of legislators, the administration fails to provide accurate and sufficient information.
In a light-hearted manner, he commented that the Agriculture Minister’s speech was informative but delivered at such a rapid pace, akin to a ‘bullet train,’ that it made note-taking challenging for members.
In conclusion, he urged the government to make the complete proceedings of the discussion available and focus on providing transparent information in the interest of farmers.
