Noida, April 8: A tragic incident occurred in the Sector-126 area of Noida, where the joy of students celebrating the end of their exams turned into mourning. Four students gathered in Sector-94 to celebrate their recent exam completion, but the festivities took a devastating turn when one student lost his life.
According to reports, during the party, the students approached a nearby deep pit filled with water. In the heat and excitement, they decided to take a dip and began jumping into the pit one by one. Unfortunately, one student ventured too deep and started to drown. His friends attempted to rescue him, but the water was too deep for them to pull him out.
Upon receiving the news, local police arrived at the scene and initiated a rescue operation. After considerable effort, they managed to retrieve the student from the water, but it was too late; he had already succumbed. The deceased has been identified as Harshit Bhatt, a Bachelor of Physical Education student at Amity University.
The police have taken possession of the body and sent it for post-mortem examination while launching an investigation into the incident. DCP Noida, Saad Miyan Khan, stated that it appears to be an accident at first glance, but all aspects are being thoroughly examined.
This incident has once again raised questions about the operational practices of the Noida Authority. Local residents have expressed concerns that deep open pits are left unsecured, posing a risk for potential accidents. They argue that if these pits were filled or secured properly, this tragedy might have been averted.
