
London, April 14: British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron will host an online meeting on Friday, as confirmed by their offices. In the meantime, President Macron has stated on social media that he has spoken with Iranian counterpart Masoud Pajeshkian and U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the current situation.
On the platform, he urged both sides to exercise restraint. He mentioned, “I have called for the resumption of stalled talks in Islamabad, to clear misunderstandings and avoid any provocations.”
He also emphasized the importance of including Lebanon in the ceasefire discussions. Macron stated, “It is crucial that all parties strictly adhere to the ceasefire, including Lebanon.”
The French President further highlighted the need to reopen the Strait of Hormuz unconditionally and without tolls as soon as possible. In these circumstances, negotiations should resume promptly with the cooperation of the main parties involved.
In his post, he provided details about a conference scheduled to take place in Paris on Friday. This event will utilize video conferencing to bring together countries willing to contribute to a multilateral and fully defensive mission aimed at restoring freedom of movement in the Strait according to security conditions.
Both offices have confirmed the conference, indicating that President Macron and Prime Minister Starmer will lead the meeting.
