Ahmedabad, August 28: The ‘She Teams’ of Gujarat Police celebrated Raksha Bandhan on Friday by tying ‘rakhi’ to Director General of Police (DGP) Gyanendra Singh Malik. Teams across the state visited the homes of senior citizens, retired police officers, and senior police officials to commemorate this festival, which emphasizes the bond of protection.
As part of the special Raksha Bandhan event, the ‘She Team’ associated with the Gujarat University Police Station in Ahmedabad met with Malik and tied the sacred thread, symbolizing protection, while wishing him longevity.
The Gujarat Police chief welcomed this initiative by female police officers and praised the ‘She Teams’ for their efforts to enhance the safety and security of women and citizens.
This initiative was not limited to senior police officials; ‘She Teams’ across Gujarat visited the homes of senior citizens and both retired and current police officers. During these visits, they tied rakhis and protection threads as part of the Raksha Bandhan celebrations.
In Ahmedabad, the local ‘She Team’ members also tied rakhi to Commissioner Anupam Singh Gehlot during the festival.
These visits were organized to foster a sense of security and togetherness, allowing police personnel to meet individuals personally rather than confining the celebration to police offices.
Raksha Bandhan, traditionally celebrated by sisters tying rakhi on their brothers’ wrists, was observed throughout Gujarat on Friday.
