
Lucknow, June 22: A devastating fire broke out at a private coaching center in the Puraniya area of Aliganj, Lucknow, on Monday, resulting in the tragic deaths of 15 individuals. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited the site to assess the situation and met with the injured at the hospital.
The Chief Minister canceled all his scheduled programs in Aligarh to rush to Lucknow. He reviewed the ongoing relief efforts and emphasized the government’s commitment to providing the best possible treatment for the injured. The cause of the incident will be determined after the investigation report is released.
After inspecting the site, CM Yogi proceeded to the KGMU Trauma Center, where he interacted with the victims of the fire.
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak reported that 14 children lost their lives in the incident, while four injured children are currently hospitalized at KGMU Trauma Center. A high-level inquiry has been ordered into the matter.
The injured are receiving treatment at the King George Medical University (KGMU) Trauma Center. KGMU Vice-Chancellor Professor Sonia Nityanand stated that a full medical team is dedicated to saving the victims of the Aliganj fire. She mentioned that the necessary procedures for post-mortems and documentation for the deceased have already commenced.
Dr. Prem Raj Singh from the Trauma Center indicated that a total of 21 individuals were admitted to the hospital, with six in stable condition. The others were brought in deceased. He clarified that the hospital has reserved beds and there is no shortage of medications or facilities.
Witnesses reported seeing smoke rising from the building in the afternoon. The fire spread rapidly, engulfing the entire structure. The smoke caused panic among the students, leading some to jump from heights in a desperate attempt to escape. Fire department, police, and administrative teams arrived promptly at the scene.
DGP Rajiv Krishna, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Sanjay Prasad, the District Magistrate, and other senior officials were present at the site. Firefighters attempted to breach the building’s rear wall to gain access and conduct rescue operations.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed profound sorrow over the incident. He described the event as extremely painful and vowed that those responsible would not be spared. CM Yogi instructed officials to expedite relief and rescue efforts and ensure proper treatment for the injured, along with a thorough investigation into the causes of the incident to hold accountable those at fault.
