Tragic Drownings in Uttar Pradesh: Four Young Lives Lost in Lalitpur, Three Missing in Ayodhya

Mumbai, May 7: Two tragic incidents have occurred in Uttar Pradesh, resulting in the loss of young lives. In Lalitpur, four young men drowned while bathing in a canal, while three others are missing after a similar incident in the Saryu River in Ayodhya.

The Lalitpur incident unfolded when a young man began to drown, prompting several others to jump in to save him. Reports indicate that all the young men had traveled from Vastrawan village in Madhya Pradesh to attend a wedding. They later visited their sister’s home in Harshpur village, where they decided to bathe in the canal. One by one, five young men jumped in to rescue their friend, leading to the drowning of four of them.

Local police and rescue teams arrived at the scene shortly after receiving the report. Currently, one young man is in critical condition and has been referred to Jhansi Medical College for treatment.

In a separate incident in Ayodhya’s Kotwali area, several individuals drowned while bathing in the Saryu River, with fears that three young men may have lost their lives.

Ayodhya SP City Chakrapani Tripathi stated that a group of people had come to bathe at the Saryu banks. During their visit, they crossed barricades and ventured further into the water. Three young men subsequently drowned, and their deaths are feared. The SDRF and water police teams are actively engaged in rescue operations. Necessary actions will be taken once the missing individuals are located.

Earlier, in Hamirpur, Uttar Pradesh, a boat capsized in a river, resulting in the death of a minor, while several others remain missing. The incident occurred in the Kutupur Patia area of the Kurara police station, where a boat carrying nine people overturned while crossing the river. Six individuals are still unaccounted for. On Thursday morning, the body of a 14-year-old girl named Archana was recovered. NDRF and SDRF teams are currently involved in the rescue efforts.
