Maharashtra Law and Order Under Scrutiny as Congress Calls for Full-Time Home Minister
Congress MLC Bhai Jagatap demands a dedicated Home Minister in Maharashtra amid rising law and order concerns.

Mumbai, October 23 (Daily Kiran) : Congress MLC Bhai Jagatap has raised alarms about the deteriorating law and order situation in Maharashtra, specifically targeting Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. During a recent press conference in Mumbai, he highlighted alarming incidents involving celebrities and the recent bomb threat email sent to Mumbai’s Mayor, Ritu Tawde. Jagatap insists that the state requires a full-time Home Minister to address these escalating concerns.
He criticized the current arrangement where the Chief Minister also oversees the Home Ministry, arguing that Fadnavis’s responsibilities are too broad to focus adequately on law enforcement issues. “Maharashtra needs a dedicated Home Minister,” he stated, reiterating a demand he has made before. Jagatap urged the government to take immediate action in this regard.
The Congress leader pointed to the increasing audacity of criminal elements, who now make threats openly, a situation he claims was not as prevalent in the past. He condemned the recent threats against public figures and questioned the government’s ability to maintain order.
Referencing incidents involving celebrities such as Tiger Shroff and filmmaker Rohit Shetty, Jagatap expressed grave concern about the implications for public safety. He called for accountability from the government to strengthen law enforcement measures across the state.
Citing the actions taken by previous administrations, he asserted that past governments had been more effective in combating crime. Jagatap concluded by urging Chief Minister Fadnavis to prioritize law and order and appoint a full-time Home Minister to enhance security throughout Maharashtra.
