New Delhi, May 17: A tragic incident unfolded late last night in the Rani Bagh area of New Delhi, where a 34-35-year-old man was found in a state resembling intoxication by police during a night patrol. The officers discovered him near a car and, concerned for his safety, brought him to the police station. Shortly after, during questioning, he revealed that he had ingested poison. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the police promptly rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
According to police sources, the patrol staff encountered the man near APJ School. Fearing he might be a victim of a robbery or other crime, they decided to take him to the station. Upon arrival, he disclosed his distressing situation, stating that he was deeply troubled and had consumed poison. The Rani Bagh police acted swiftly, admitting him to a local hospital, but despite their efforts, he could not be saved.
Efforts to contact his family through numbers found on his mobile phone were unsuccessful, as none answered. Investigations revealed that the deceased had ordered a toxic substance (sulfas) online to his home address.
The victim has been identified as 35-year-old Brijesh Mishra, a resident of Rohini, who worked online. He leaves behind his parents, a younger brother, a wife, and two young children. The family has declined to comment on the situation, expressing confusion over why Brijesh would take such a drastic step.
Reports indicate that Brijesh had left home for Gurugram the previous day and was returning when the incident occurred. The motive behind his actions remains unclear, prompting police to investigate the case thoroughly from all angles. Despite the Rani Bagh police’s prompt response in getting him medical attention, it is unfortunate that his life could not be saved.
