
Vadodara, June 17: A tragic road accident on the Vadodara-Halol Highway early Wednesday morning has resulted in the deaths of six individuals, with 26 others injured. The incident occurred around 4 AM near Kotambi Stadium, close to the village of Kotambi, when a luxury bus traveling from Rajasthan to Surat collided with a truck parked on the roadside.
According to police reports, the bus was carrying passengers from Banswara in Rajasthan to Surat. During the journey, it crashed into a truck that had stopped to check tire pressure. The impact was so severe that the front of the bus was completely destroyed, trapping several passengers inside.
Local residents and passersby rushed to the scene to assist with rescue efforts and alerted emergency services. Fire brigade teams from Vadodara, along with personnel from the Pani Gate Fire Station and the Emergency Response Center, arrived promptly. The Jarod police station team also managed the rescue operations and traffic control. Given the seriousness of the accident, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) was called in for additional support.
During the rescue operation, the fire brigade utilized a JCB to separate the bus from the truck. Rescue teams worked diligently to cut through the twisted metal of the bus to free the trapped passengers.
Officials reported that six individuals died at the scene, while 26 injured passengers were admitted to Vadodara Civil Hospital and nearby private facilities. At least five of the injured are in critical condition. Most of the passengers on the bus were from Rajasthan.
Anil Solanki, the village head of Jarod, stated, “We learned about the accident early Wednesday morning and immediately rushed to the site. A luxury bus had crashed, and around 20-30 passengers were trapped inside.”
