Pune, August 11: A tragic road accident occurred in the Satara district of Maharashtra. Late Monday night, a speeding car collided violently with a truck on the Pune-Bengaluru Highway near Shirwal. Four young men lost their lives at the scene, while two others suffered serious injuries and are currently receiving treatment in a hospital.
According to reports, six young men from Kamshat, Talegaon Dabhade, and nearby areas were traveling in a Nexon car. The vehicle crashed into an Ashok Leyland truck in Shirwal. The impact was so severe that the car was extensively damaged. The deceased have been identified as Vedant Arjun Waringe (19, resident of Talegaon Dabhade), Sonaling Dhirendra Thakur (19, resident of Kamshat), Aditya Balasaheb Garud (19, resident of Takwe, Tal. Maval), and Nikhil Baloo Raut (20, resident of Kamshat).
Meanwhile, Dikshit Dayanand Pujari (20, resident of Kamshat) and Mayur Hanumant Shinde (20, resident of Baur, Kamshat) sustained serious injuries. The accident was so horrific that the car was completely mangled. Following the incident, a significant traffic jam formed on the highway. The Shirwal police arrived promptly at the scene. They removed both vehicles involved in the accident and restored normal traffic flow. The injured were taken to the hospital, and the deceased were sent for post-mortem examinations. The Shirwal police have registered a case and are investigating the exact cause of the accident.
Earlier, on July 15, a similar incident in Ratnagiri district resulted in the deaths of three individuals, including two women, when a car collided with a dumper truck. Two others were seriously injured in that accident, which occurred on the Mumbai-Goa Highway near Lanja. Members of a family from Agripada, Mumbai, were returning from Goa when their vehicle was struck from behind by a stationary dumper, leading to a devastating crash.
