Shimla, August 12: A devastating road accident occurred in the Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh. A vehicle plunged into a gorge on the Sangrah-Palar road, resulting in the deaths of four individuals and injuring five others.
The incident took place late Tuesday night. According to police reports, the vehicle lost control in the Gait Log area of the Renuka Assembly constituency. The car veered off the road and fell into the gorge. Officials stated that there were nine people in the car at the time of the accident. The injured were rushed to Dr. YS Parmar Medical College in Nahan.
One injured passenger informed the police that the vehicle was overloaded, and the driver likely lost control while navigating a turn. Local residents heard the crash and immediately initiated rescue efforts, alerting the police.
Upon receiving the information, a police team arrived at the scene and, with the help of villagers, managed to pull the injured from the gorge and transport them to a nearby hospital. The depth of the gorge and the difficult terrain posed significant challenges during the rescue operation.
An injured passenger recounted that rescuers faced considerable difficulty extracting them from the vehicle. Most of the occupants were from the Sirmaur district. The police have launched an investigation into the accident, and efforts are underway to identify the deceased and injured. The exact cause of the accident remains unknown.
