CPI MP Critiques Amit Shahs Remarks on Sardar Patels Legacy
CPI MP P. Sandosh Kumar rebuts Amit Shahs comments on Sardar Patel, highlighting Patels role in banning RSS post-Gandhis assassination.

New Delhi, October 31 (Daily Kiran) : CPI MP P. Sandosh Kumar has responded sharply to Home Minister Amit Shah‘s recent remarks about Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Kumar accused Shah of being notorious for making controversial statements. He emphasized that Patel was a distinguished minister in Jawaharlal Nehru’s cabinet and took commendable action by banning the RSS following Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination.
Kumar stated, “Shah is infamous for making such statements. Was Patel a candidate for the BJP? He was a respected minister in Nehru’s cabinet. The question remains, who was behind this? More importantly, Patel’s decision to impose a ban on the RSS right after Gandhi’s assassination was a significant act. How can Shah justify such comments about Patel?”
He further criticized the current political climate, suggesting that those in power are desperate and unable to find relevance in history. Kumar pointed out that the BJP and its affiliates were not part of India’s freedom struggle, leading them to adopt a selective approach to historical figures. This, he argued, is why Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru are not acceptable to them, prompting their attempts to co-opt Patel.
Kumar asserted that history is fundamentally against the BJP’s narrative. He reiterated that Patel was a member of the Congress party, and any disagreement within parties is separate from the BJP’s stance. Thus, Patel’s decision to ban the RSS was justified.
In response to another query, Kumar mentioned that since 2025, the INDIA alliance has been demanding the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar and the withdrawal of the SIR. He noted that numerous protest marches have taken place, and appeals have been made to the President of India and the Supreme Court. “We are pursuing every possible political and legal avenue. This is part of our political struggle and an effort to expose the Election Commission,” he stated.
Meanwhile, DMK spokesperson TKS Elangovan highlighted the rising inflation, particularly in food prices, and criticized the government’s silence on the issue. He argued that the administration is more focused on attacking the DMK than addressing the concerns of Tamil Nadu’s citizens. Elangovan stated that the movement was initiated by the women’s wing as they are the most affected by the current economic conditions.
He further condemned the government’s handling of the economy, asserting that the country is in a state of disarray. “The Indian currency is depreciating against the dollar, indicating economic weakness. There is no development, and the people are suffering. The government is undermining state rights and revenue, yet they remain in a poor position. The administration since 2014 has not served the interests of the people or the country’s development,” Elangovan concluded.
