Tragic Accident in Goregaon: Speeding Tempo Crushes Taxi Driver, Leading to Death

Mumbai, June 30: A tragic incident occurred in Goregaon, Mumbai, where a speeding tempo struck and killed a 68-year-old taxi driver. The victim has been identified as Mazharul Khan. Following the accident, the tempo driver fled the scene.

The Aarey police have registered a case against the accused driver, Dharmendra Yadav, and have initiated a search for him.

According to Mumbai police, the accident took place on Aarey-Pawai Road in Goregaon. Mazharul Khan was on his way to work, having left home around 8 AM as he did every day.

At approximately 11:30 AM, while standing near Unit Number 22, he was violently hit by a speeding tempo. The collision caused severe injuries to his body, including his waist, rendering him unable to move at the scene.

After the incident, Mazharul Khan managed to call his son, Istekhar Khan, to inform him about the accident. Upon receiving the call, Istekhar rushed to the location and took his injured father to a trauma care hospital in Jogeshwari.

At the hospital, a young man named Mohammad Asif Siddiqui, who identified himself as the supervisor of the involved tempo, contacted the family and confirmed the driver’s identity as Dharmendra Yadav.

Tragically, Mazharul Khan succumbed to his injuries around 1:45 PM during treatment. Following the notification from the hospital, Aarey police arrived at the scene and began their investigation.

Based on Istekhar Khan’s complaint, police have filed an FIR against Dharmendra Yadav for reckless driving and causing death. Mumbai police reported that the accused driver has since gone into hiding, and efforts to apprehend him are ongoing. The investigation is continuing.
