
Jamshedpur, June 15: A tragic road accident in the Parsudih area of Jamshedpur resulted in the death of a 25-year-old Tata Motors employee on Monday. Following the incident, angry family members and local residents staged a protest by placing the body on the road, temporarily disrupting traffic.
According to police reports, the victim has been identified as Sumit Munda, a resident of Chandni Chowk. He was riding his motorcycle to work at Tata Motors around 5:30 AM when a heavy vehicle attempted to overtake him near the Salgajudi Hanuman Temple. Eyewitnesses stated that Sumit’s motorcycle lost balance and fell onto the road, leading to him being struck by the vehicle’s wheels. He died at the scene.
After the incident, the driver of the heavy vehicle fled the scene. However, local residents managed to stop the vehicle and informed the police. Officers from the Parsudih police station arrived at the site and initiated an investigation. In response to the young man’s death, family members and locals demanded the arrest of the responsible driver, compensation for the victim’s family, and stricter regulations on heavy vehicle traffic on this road.
Protesters expressed their concerns about the frequent accidents caused by heavy vehicles on the narrow road, highlighting the lack of effective measures to prevent such incidents. Police officials assured the protesters that action would be taken, and the blockade was eventually lifted. The body has been sent for post-mortem, and efforts are underway to locate the fleeing driver.
