Tovino Thomas Discusses the Release of Pallichattambi Amid Global Tensions

Chennai, March 31: The ongoing global tensions and war-like conditions are increasingly impacting the film industry. This has disrupted the release plans for many films.

While several major Malayalam projects have opted to postpone their release dates, one film is set to hit theaters as scheduled. This film is ‘Pallichattambi,’ and actor Tovino Thomas has broken his silence to explain why the makers have chosen not to delay its release.

In a recent conversation, Tovino Thomas stated, “The current war-like situation is extremely concerning, and nothing is more important than that. Many of my close friends and family live in the Middle East, where uncertainty and fear prevail. For me, the safety of those people is far more crucial than the film’s earnings or release. Cinema is merely a medium of entertainment and should never take precedence over human lives.”

He further elaborated, “The release date for this film was set long ago. When the tensions began, everyone initially hoped that conditions would normalize quickly, as they have in the past. With that mindset, we decided to stick to the release date of April 9. At that time, no one anticipated that the situation would drag on for so long.”

Tovino added, “However, another challenge arose, which was the elections. Several regions were scheduled to hold elections on April 9, potentially affecting the film’s business. Considering this, the makers decided to push the release date forward by one day to April 10. A significant amount of money has been invested in this film, so every decision must be made thoughtfully.”

He continued, “The biggest issue is that no one knows when this war will end. Even today, when I speak with my friends in the Middle East, the situation appears entirely uncertain. Therefore, even if the film’s release were to be postponed, it is difficult to determine when the right time would come. This is why the makers had to make a tough but necessary decision.”

He concluded, “The film’s finances belong to the producer, so the final decision should rest with them. I will stand by every decision made by the producer.”
