
New Delhi, March 22: The excitement of the 19th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to kick off on March 28. The IPL is known for its explosive batting, with players hitting numerous fours and sixes. Here are the five batsmen who have hit the most sixes in a single IPL season.
Chris Gayle holds the record for the most sixes in a single IPL season. Playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2012, Gayle smashed 59 sixes. He was also the highest run-scorer that season, amassing 733 runs at a strike rate of 160 across 15 matches.
Andre Russell, known for his explosive batting, ranks second on the list. In the 2019 season, while playing for Kolkata Knight Riders, Russell hit 52 sixes. He scored 510 runs at an impressive strike rate of 204 in 15 matches.
Chris Gayle made another remarkable impact in the 2013 season, hitting 51 sixes while playing for RCB. He scored 708 runs at a strike rate of 156 during that season.
Jos Buttler, the English wicketkeeper-batsman, had a stellar year in 2022. Playing for Rajasthan Royals, he hit 45 sixes and scored 863 runs at a strike rate of 149 in 17 matches, helping his team reach the finals.
In 2011, Chris Gayle’s performance was exceptional once again. He hit 44 sixes while representing Royal Challengers Bangalore, scoring 608 runs at a strike rate of 183 in 12 matches, making him the tournament’s top run-scorer that year.
