
Chandigarh, July 15: Drivers traveling on national highways in Punjab and Haryana will face increased toll rates at several major toll plazas starting today. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has revised toll fees at eight key toll plazas.
Under the new rates, there is an increase of ₹5 to ₹10 for cars and light motor vehicles (LMVs) at most locations. Additionally, toll charges for buses and trucks have also been adjusted. New rates have been notified at over 50 toll plazas in the region, although most increases are modest. The toll rate at the Kaljhar toll plaza, exiting Sangrur, has also been raised.
The NHAI has increased toll taxes at the Ghuhal toll plaza (Chandigarh-Kharar-Ludhiana, NH-5), Kot Karor toll plaza (Amritsar-Tarn Taran-Harike-Faridkot-Bathinda, NH-15), Kala Tibba toll plaza (Abohar-Sito Guno-Dabwali route), Sheikhpura toll plaza (Maur-Romana Mandi, NH-254), Lahra Bega toll plaza (Tapa-Bathinda, NH-7), Khuiyan Sarwar toll plaza (Malout-Abohar Bypass-Sadhuwali, NH-7), Kalajhar toll plaza (Patiala Bypass, NH-64), and Peind toll plaza (Sangrur-Dogal Kalan, NH-52).
The new rates will significantly impact daily travelers on national highways between Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Faridkot, Bathinda, Abohar, Patiala, Maur, and Sangrur. In addition to private vehicle owners, bus operators and freight truck operators will also see increased operational costs.
In Punjab, private cars and light motor vehicles traveling on routes from Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Faridkot, Bathinda, Abohar, Moud, and Sangrur will have to pay an additional ₹5 to ₹10 in tolls.
At the Ghuhal toll plaza on the Chandigarh-Kharar-Ludhiana national highway, the one-way charge for cars and light vehicles will be ₹115, while the round trip will cost ₹170. Buses will incur a toll of ₹390, and trucks will be charged ₹580.
At the Kot Karor toll plaza on the Amritsar-Tarn Taran-Harike-Faridkot-Bathinda national highway-15, the one-way fee for cars and light vehicles will be ₹50, and the round trip will cost ₹70. Buses and trucks will need to pay ₹165 and ₹250, respectively. The toll tax at the Kala Tibba toll plaza will be ₹50 for one-way and ₹80 for round trips for cars and light vehicles. The Sheikhpura toll plaza will charge ₹55 for one-way and ₹85 for round trips for cars and light motor vehicles, while buses and trucks will pay ₹185 and ₹280, respectively.
