Kolkata, March 25: Ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in West Bengal, BJP state president and Rajya Sabha member Samik Bhattacharya has criticized the alliance between AIMIM and the Ajay Up Party (AJUP).
Bhattacharya raised questions about Asaduddin Owaisi’s visit to West Bengal, stating, “Why is Asaduddin Owaisi coming to West Bengal? The answer is clear: TMC and its divisive politics.”
He accused the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) of completely disrupting the social order in the state. He emphasized that the people of West Bengal will decide whether to stand with Ram or Babar, asserting that TMC represents Humayun and is essentially Humayun Kabir. He claimed that this is a ‘Plan B’ being executed.
Furthermore, he stated that this election is being fought on the basis of ‘Mamata vs. the People.’ He criticized TMC for going against its own slogan of ‘Maa, Mati, Manush’ and now fighting against the common populace.
The BJP state president expressed confidence that the people of West Bengal have resolved to rid themselves of TMC at any cost.
It is noteworthy that Owaisi’s AIMIM and Humayun Kabir’s AJUP are contesting the elections together. Voting will occur in two phases across all 294 assembly seats in the state. The first phase is scheduled for April 23, covering 152 seats, while the second phase will take place on April 29 for 142 seats. Election results will be announced on May 4.
To simplify the electoral process and enhance security, the number of voting phases has been reduced from eight to just two compared to the last election.
