Canberra, March 25: A recent survey reveals that only 26% of Australians support US-Israel military actions against Iran. In contrast, 50% of the population opposes the deployment of Australian troops in this conflict.

According to a report by Xinhua News Agency, the findings come from a monthly poll conducted by the independent firm Essential Research, featured in the latest edition of “The Essential Report.” The survey indicates that 10% of respondents fully endorse the US-Israel decision to initiate attacks on Iran, while 16% consider it a reasonable action.

In comparison, 27% expressed strong opposition to the conflict, and 15% outright rejected it. The remaining participants either preferred to remain neutral or were uncertain about their stance.

When asked about Australia’s involvement, 50% of respondents stated they would oppose sending troops to support the US-Israeli ground campaign in Iran, while 21% were in favor of such a move.

Respondents also opposed sending weapons and supplies to third-party nations like the United Arab Emirates, which have been affected by Iran’s retaliatory attacks.

Moreover, 60% of citizens believe Australia should prioritize peace dialogues and collaborate with international organizations.

Regarding diplomacy and trade, 34% of participants feel that Australia should exercise caution in its relations with the United States, a significant increase from 21% in 2021.

Last week, a poll of 1,008 individuals found that 43% disagreed with the US-Israel strikes on Iran, while only 26% supported the actions. Approximately 31% were uncertain, responding with “don’t know.”
