
Mumbai, May 23: The Anti-Extortion Cell of Mumbai’s Crime Branch has successfully apprehended three notorious criminals involved in a significant arms operation. These individuals had traveled from other states to sell foreign weapons in Mumbai. The police have registered a case against the accused and initiated an investigation.
Intelligence reports indicated that certain individuals were arriving in Mumbai with weapons. Acting on this information, the Anti-Extortion Cell set a trap near a public toilet on PD Melo Road, close to St. George Hospital, around 10:45 PM on May 22, and arrested the three suspects.
Authorities recovered three weapons, magazines, and 45 cartridges marked ‘Made in China’ from the arrested individuals. The origin of these Chinese-looking weapons is currently under thorough investigation by the police. The suspects have yet to disclose any information regarding the weapons.
All three arrested individuals have a serious criminal history. Jaspreet Mangal Singh and Sukwinder Singh, both 24 years old, hail from Patiala, Punjab, while the third suspect, Arbaaz, is from Jhalawar, Rajasthan. Arbaaz has 19 criminal cases registered against him. Disturbingly, two of the suspects have been wanted in a murder case since 2022, and police have been searching for them for a considerable time.
The police reported that the arrested suspects were attempting to sell weapons to local criminals. A case has been filed against them under the Arms Act at the M.R.A. Marg police station, and further investigations are underway. Authorities are meticulously examining all angles, including potential connections to the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
