Three IPS Officers Transferred in Madhya Pradesh; Varun Kapoor Appointed DG Prisons

IPS Officers Transferred

Bhopal, July 31 (H.S.) – The Madhya Pradesh government has transferred three senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers and issued new postings. Following the retirement of DG Prisons Govind Pratap Singh, ADG Rail Ravi Kumar Gupta has been promoted and appointed as Special DG Rail, while the responsibility of Director General of Prisons has been assigned to Special DG Varun Kapoor. The Home Department issued the official order late Thursday night.

According to the order, Varun Kapoor has been appointed as Director General of Prisons. He was previously posted as Special DG at RAPTC Indore. Additionally, ADG Mohammad Shahid Afzar, who was serving in the Economic Offences Wing (EOW), has been given the charge of ADG Selection and Recruitment at Police Headquarters, as well as additional responsibility as ADG PTRI and Director of Madhya Pradesh Police Academy, Bhopal. He replaces Sonali Mishra, who has been appointed DG in the Railway Protection Force.

DIG Cyber Cell PHQ Mohammad Yusuf Quraishi has been posted as DIG EOW. The order also states that IG SAF Indore Chandrashekhar Solanki will now also hold additional charge of RAPTC Indore alongside his current responsibilities.

In another order, ADG Rail Ravi Kumar Gupta has been promoted to the rank of Special DG and appointed to the newly vacated post of Special DG Rail, following the retirement of Govind Pratap Singh.
