Mumbai, June 3: A Thane court has granted a three-day transit warrant for Huzaifa Farooq Ahmed Hashmi (26), who is linked to the Pakistani intelligence agency ISI and the Mumbai underworld. He was arrested during a joint operation by the Delhi Police’s Special Cell and the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in the Mira-Bhayandar area near Mumbai.
During the court proceedings, the judge inquired whether Huzaifa was aware of the reasons for his arrest. Huzaifa confirmed that he was informed about the situation.
The Special Cell and ATS presented chat records and banking transaction screenshots to the court. They requested permission to bring Huzaifa to the Patiala House Court in Delhi for further questioning and investigation.
The court sought clarification on how Huzaifa would be transported to Delhi. The special team indicated that he would be taken by train. Upon the court’s request for details regarding the travel duration, the team requested a three-day transit warrant, which the court approved.
Huzaifa is scheduled to appear in Delhi’s Patiala House Court in two days, where further legal proceedings and investigations will take place.
Preliminary investigations reveal that Huzaifa had been in contact with Yawar Khan, who is based in Pakistan, for the past month. Agencies are examining their communications, financial transactions, and potential networks.
Reports indicate that Huzaifa was in Mira-Bhayandar to meet his girlfriend when he was apprehended by the joint team of the Delhi Special Cell and ATS. Security measures in the area were heightened to prevent any untoward incidents during the arrest.
Following this arrest, security agencies are on high alert and are investigating others who may have been in contact with Huzaifa. The next steps in the case will depend on court directives and the reports from the investigating agencies.
