Telangana Leaders Pay Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Bapu Ghat

Hyderabad: Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka paid homage to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, on his death anniversary. They offered floral tributes at Bapu Ghat located near Langar House, where Gandhi’s ashes were immersed at the confluence of the Musi and A.C. Rivers.

Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Mahesh Kumar Goud, senior Congress leader and former MP V. Hanumant Rao, along with other Congress leaders, also participated in the homage ceremony.

The leaders paid respects at the memorial and later offered flowers at Gandhi’s statue. They also took part in an interfaith prayer meeting held to mark the occasion.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy described Mahatma Gandhi as a great soul who showed the world a completely new path of struggle. He paid tribute to Gandhi’s ideals of truth and non-violence.

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K.T. Rama Rao also honoured Gandhi’s memory. On social media platform X, Rama Rao wrote that Gandhi demonstrated the power of truth and non-violence to the world. He urged everyone to remember Gandhi’s honesty, courage, and compassion on this solemn day, highlighting the continuing relevance of his teachings.

Telangana Jagruti president K. Kavitha reinforced the call to uphold Gandhi’s timeless principles of non-violence, truth, compassion, and patriotism.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu also paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. The Governor stated that Gandhi’s life and supreme sacrifice symbolise truth, non-violence, and selfless service to the nation, inspiring humanity worldwide and guiding India towards peace, unity, and moral strength.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said that by following the path of non-violence, Gandhi united millions across the country and achieved independence for India. He urged citizens to practice Gandhi’s principles of truth, non-violence, peace, and service in their daily lives. Naidu called for collective effort with dedication and pure hearts to realise Gandhi’s ideals of swadeshi, women empowerment, village self-governance, and poverty eradication.
