Hyderabad, August 12: Telangana Chief Minister Revant Reddy announced on Tuesday that the state government will host the prestigious ‘Khelo India Youth Games 2026’ on a large scale. The Chief Minister reviewed preparations for the event with Sports Minister V. Srinivas Goud and senior officials at the Bodhi Pavilion located in the MCRHRD campus.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to develop infrastructure for national-level competitions, which will see participation from athletes across various states.
Officials were directed to assess the current status of Hyderabad’s stadiums and take necessary steps to upgrade them permanently according to the needs of the sporting events.
Emphasizing that the government is ready to provide adequate funding, Chief Minister Revant Reddy also instructed officials to begin preparations immediately for inviting chief guests, renowned athletes, and film personalities for the opening and closing ceremonies.
He stressed the importance of assigning specific responsibilities to officials regarding infrastructure, event management, and guest facilities.
The review meeting discussed the roles and active participation of Telangana’s Arjuna Award-winning athletes, members of the Telangana Sports Hub Board, the Olympic Association, and representatives from national-level sports organizations. The Chief Minister emphasized that plans should be prepared well in advance.
Considering the competitions across 20 sports disciplines in the ‘Khelo India Youth Games,’ the Chief Minister directed officials to finalize venues for each sporting event and make necessary arrangements. He stated that every event should reflect the true spirit of sportsmanship.
The review meeting included government advisor Ramakrishna Rao, Chairman of the Telangana Sports Authority (SATG) Shiv Sena Reddy, Special Chief Secretary (Sports) Jayesh Ranjan, and MD of SATG Soni Bala Devi.
