Hyderabad, August 11: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed officials to expedite the Old City Metro project under the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-2 initiative. He held a review meeting with senior officials from Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) on Tuesday.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Reddy instructed officials to complete the road widening work on the 7.5-kilometer route from MGBS (Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station) to Chandrayangutta swiftly. He also called for the initiation of the tender process for metro construction along this corridor.
The Chief Minister inquired about the status of pending land acquisitions and urged officials to finalize plans for the metro expansion promptly. He emphasized the need to manage the increasing passenger numbers in Hyderabad Metro by adding additional coaches. Reddy also directed the purchase of necessary extra metro coaches.
Regarding the 7.5-kilometer corridor from MGBS to Chandrayangutta under Phase-2, the Chief Minister advised officials to consult with the Delhi Metro for the selection of appropriate technology.
During the meeting, Reddy reviewed preparations for the upcoming ‘Invest Telangana Global Summit’ scheduled for December. Discussions included arrangements for the event and plans to honor key figures from various business sectors.
The Chief Minister stressed that the summit should be organized according to international standards to attract global investments to Telangana. He instructed officials to present a detailed report on the investments received and progress made since last year’s summit.
Reddy also called for the development of new strategies to achieve better results in attracting investments. The meeting included key officials such as Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju, Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, Government Advisor Ramakrishna Rao, and Metro Rail Managing Director Sarfaraz Ahmed, among others.
