London, September 6 (Daily Kiran) : Former Pakistan cricket captain and ex-Prime Minister Imran Khan’s sons, Suleiman and Qasim, have sharply criticized the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) President Mohsin Naqvi. They claim the board has made a mockery of itself by threatening to withdraw from the recent Test match against England at Lord’s.
The controversy erupted during the second Test when Sky Sports aired an interview featuring the Khan brothers discussing their father’s deteriorating health and the conditions in Pakistani prisons. Following the interview, reports surfaced that the PCB threatened to withdraw from the match unless the broadcast was canceled.
Qasim expressed his disbelief in an interview with The Telegraph, stating, “They have made a joke of themselves.” Suleiman echoed this sentiment, saying, “I expected some reaction, but I didn’t think they would be so foolish as to threaten not to play. The PCB should not have the authority to demand the removal of an interview about a former player who spent 22 years in England. This isn’t about politics; it’s about human conditions and his health.”
As discussions around the situation continue, the Khan brothers have raised serious concerns about their father’s safety while in custody. They remarked, “Clearly, they hope to harm him. They want him silenced and gradually want to eliminate him. It is a difficult task to do this to the most popular person in Pakistan right now. Whenever we speak, their strategy seems to be to let things cool down and then impose even harsher restrictions, making it harder for him to survive.”
Pakistani officials have consistently denied allegations of mistreatment, asserting that Khan is receiving adequate medical care. However, Suleiman dismissed these claims, stating, “A troubling report is circulating that they are slowly leaking news about his poor health while pretending to help him, when in reality they are preparing for a major incident. Then they can wash their hands of it, saying, ‘He was just an old man who died, and we had nothing to do with it.’ They have provided no evidence for any of these claims. All we have heard are rumors from government sources – there is no transparency, and they refuse to allow anyone access to information. How can we trust any of this? The last concrete update we received was six months ago regarding his eye, and how it was being neglected.”
