Telangana Chief Minister K. Revant Reddy Meets Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge

Hyderabad, May 31: Telangana Chief Minister K. Revant Reddy, along with Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and state Congress President Mahesh Goud, met with All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday.

The meeting took place at the Novotel Hotel in Shamshabad, located near Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. Meenakshi Natarajan, in charge of Telangana Congress, was also present. Kharge had stopped in Hyderabad while traveling from New Delhi to Gulbarga in Karnataka.

The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) described this meeting as a courtesy visit. However, party sources indicated that the discussion lasted about an hour and a half, focusing on the current political situation in the state and various government initiatives.

Additionally, the CMO announced that Chief Minister Revant Reddy will hold a review meeting with officials on Monday. This meeting will address the implementation of a new employee health scheme aimed at providing health security to state employees and pensioners.

The scheme will be executed through an Employee Health Care Trust, which will consist of eight members, including representatives from six employee organizations and two pensioner organizations. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the trust will be a state government employee. The formation of this committee is expected to be announced on Monday.

The process of gathering necessary information for the scheme has already begun. The Finance Department has instructed all government departments to collect details of employees, pensioners, and their family members.

According to the issued circular, this information must be uploaded by May 31. Based on this data, the government will issue digital health cards and provide cashless medical facilities.

The state cabinet approved this scheme on February 23, which will cover 356,000 government employees, 288,000 pensioners, and their dependents, totaling 1.707 million beneficiaries.

The government has announced that cashless treatment will be available in all government hospitals and 652 listed private hospitals. The scheme includes 1,998 medical procedures.

Employees will need to contribute 1.5 percent of their basic salary, with the government matching this amount. The trust’s annual budget will be ₹1,056 crore, with ₹528 crore contributed by employees and ₹528 crore from the government.
