Hyderabad, October 5 (Daily Kiran) : The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) made a significant arrest on Monday, capturing a town planning officer in Hyderabad while she was accepting a bribe of 4 lakh rupees. The officer, Tulasaram Sunita, works as a town planning supervisor for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) in the Golconda zone.
ACB officials apprehended Sunita as she was receiving the first installment of an 8 lakh rupee bribe from a complainant in exchange for assistance with a government project. The bribe was solicited to overlook orders issued by the GHMC’s deputy commissioner, allowing the complainant to continue construction without further harassment and ensuring future cooperation.
In a statement, the ACB confirmed that 4 lakh rupees in cash were seized from the officer. Additionally, officers discovered another 2.5 lakh rupees in cash during the operation, which was also confiscated.
The ACB stated that the officer had acted dishonestly and improperly in pursuit of personal gain. Following the arrest, she was presented before a special judge for ACB and SPE cases in Nampally for judicial remand. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
In a separate incident, the ACB also arrested Swarna Kumari, a medical and health officer from Ranga Reddy district, along with health inspector M. Srinivas and a private driver, Madduri Krishnaya. The driver allegedly demanded a bribe of 1 lakh rupees to return keys to a complainant’s seized physiotherapy center, as instructed by the health officer and inspector. ACB officials recovered the bribe money from the driver.
All three individuals are now facing judicial remand and will be presented before the same special judge in Nampally.
