Chandigarh, October 6 (Daily Kiran) : A significant political uproar erupted in Punjab on Tuesday following reports of a CBI raid at House Number 50 in Chandigarh, which serves as the camp office for Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The opposition swiftly targeted the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in the wake of the raid.
Pratap Singh Bajwa, the leader of the opposition in the Punjab Assembly and a Congress member, took to social media platform X to express his concerns. He stated, “House Number 50 – Bhagwant Mann’s camp office, the very place from which his Delhi bosses managed Punjab, is now under CBI scrutiny. It is hard to ignore the irony that the site of Delhi’s ‘remote control’ over Punjab is now being investigated by the CBI. The agency must uncover the truth. Punjab should not become a laboratory for electoral transactions.”
Bikram Singh Majithia, general secretary of the Shiromani Akali Dal, also criticized the AAP government. In his post on X, he declared, “The end of the corruption game has begun. The CBI raid at House Number 50 near the residence of Punjab’s misguided chief minister is a significant development. Rajbir Ghuman from Gharachon village, who has been a key player and broker at the CM House, is now on the CBI’s radar. CBI teams have also entered several locations, including Mohali Phase 11. The downfall of Bhagwant Mann’s corrupt empire has started, and he may soon be questioned about his alleged corruption.”
In a subsequent post, Majithia reiterated that the countdown to the end of the corrupt regime has begun. He noted that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has also initiated raids at 8 to 10 different locations across Punjab, having already seized substantial evidence related to a case exceeding ₹10,000 crores. He asserted that Mann’s empire built on the exploitation of Punjab is crumbling, and all involved will be apprehended. He urged Bhagwant Mann to take moral responsibility for the corruption and resign from his position.
Tensions in Punjab’s political landscape are likely to escalate as the investigations unfold.
