Patna, February 17: Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, the National Executive President of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), emphasized the need to carry forward the ideals and aspirations of Karpuri Thakur from Bihar to Delhi and to every household in the country. He made these remarks during the 38th death anniversary of the Bharat Ratna recipient Karpuri Thakur.
Addressing a large gathering of party leaders and workers at the Bapu Sabhagar in Patna, Tejashwi stated that the RJD is committed to upholding the legacy of Karpuri Thakur and Lalu Prasad Yadav by reinforcing social justice, secularism, and the struggle for the marginalized and underprivileged.
He accused both the Bihar and central governments of being dominated by forces that spread hatred, claiming they are undermining the constitutional and secular fabric of the nation.
Tejashwi referenced Lalu Prasad Yadav’s imprisonment, asserting it was part of a conspiracy, yet highlighted that Lalu never bowed to divisive forces. He declared, “Like him, I will never yield to those who seek to weaken the Constitution through a climate of hatred.”
He further alleged that the voices of elected representatives in Bihar are being ignored, with corruption tightening its grip on governance. He pointed out the rising incidents of rape and crime as a reflection of the current government’s reality, labeling the situation as a “Mahajungle Raj.”
Tejashwi also accused institutions like the ED, CBI, and Election Commission of being misused, stating that the public lost in the last Bihar elections while the system prevailed. He criticized the costly nature of elections, which he believes has made it difficult for the poor to contest, transforming democracy into a money-driven system.
Describing the RJD as a trusted party of the people, Tejashwi called on party workers to unite and strengthen the organization not only in Bihar but also at the national level through struggles and public movements.
He stressed the importance of promoting the thoughts of Ram Manohar Lohia, Karpuri Thakur, Jagdev Prasad, and Jayaprakash Narayan. Reflecting on personal memories, Tejashwi shared that although he never met Karpuri Thakur, the memories of his parents inspire him greatly. He recalled his mother often telling him that Karpuri Thakur always spoke for the poor and simplicity.
