New Delhi, May 27: A 17-year-old student was critically injured after being shot during a dispute at a restaurant in the Amar Colony area of southeast Delhi. Reports indicate that the incident occurred when the teen objected to a group of young men brushing against his chair. According to police, one of the three suspects was apprehended on Wednesday.
The incident has shocked the local community, prompting a large-scale investigation. Multiple police teams are reviewing CCTV footage and monitoring the suspects’ movements.
Sources reveal that the arrested suspect is a minor and is believed not to be the main shooter. Authorities stated that the police control room received a call about the shooting around 7:54 PM on Tuesday.
The victim, identified as Sahil, was dining with friends when a group of boys passed by their table. During this encounter, one of the boys allegedly touched Sahil’s chair, prompting him to object and request them to walk properly.
Investigators noted that after this brief exchange, the group initially left the restaurant but returned shortly after. Officials reported that one of the youths then allegedly shot Sahil before fleeing the scene with the others. The injured teen was the only person harmed in this incident.
Upon receiving the report, a local police team, along with the station house officer and assistant commissioner of police, rushed to the scene. However, by the time they arrived, local residents and Sahil’s friends had already taken him to the hospital.
Senior police officials later visited the hospital, where they found the teen unconscious and on ventilator support.
Authorities reported that Sahil was initially admitted to Moolchand Hospital before being referred to the AIIMS Trauma Centre for better treatment. Doctors have stated that his condition remains serious, though it is currently stable.
Police officials are continuing their efforts to identify and apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the shooting. Additionally, they are analyzing CCTV footage from nearby areas.
