Mumbai, May 3: In the high-profile TCS case registered at the Mumbai Naka police station, the accused were presented in court on Saturday. Following the hearing, the court ordered an extension of police custody for all accused until May 5.
Four individuals—Tausif Bilal Attar (37), Danish Ejaz Sheikh (32), Shahrukh Hussain Shaukat Qureshi (34), and Raza Rafiq Memon (35)—were taken into custody from Nashik Road Central Jail on April 23. Initially, the court had remanded the accused to police custody until April 29, which was later extended to May 2. During the recent hearing, the police requested an additional five days of custody, which the court granted.
During the proceedings, government lawyer Ajay Misar argued that the investigation is still incomplete. Seven panchnamas have been conducted, and the accused’s mobile phones have been seized, but several critical aspects of the case remain to be investigated. Based on this, the police sought an extension of custody.
On the other hand, defense attorneys Umesh Walzhade and others opposed the police’s request, questioning the delay since the incident allegedly occurred in 2022, while the case was registered in 2026. They pointed out that no written complaints had been filed against the accused previously, and all investigative procedures had already been completed, making further police custody unnecessary.
The accused have been in custody since April 2, with a single investigating officer handling the case. The defense also argued that there is insufficient solid evidence regarding the alleged “conversion” or other serious charges.
In response, the government lawyer informed the court that each of the four accused has distinct offenses, and the investigation is ongoing. Some crucial evidence, such as the source of the allegedly used drugs and other technical aspects, still needs examination, justifying the need for police custody. The police have been granted time until May 5 to continue their investigation, after which the accused will be presented in court again.
It is noteworthy that female employees at the TCS office in Nashik have accused several male team leaders and colleagues of physical abuse, inappropriate behavior, and rape under the pretense of marriage. Allegations suggest that a coordinated group forced Hindu female employees to wear burqas/hijabs, recite the Kalma, and perform prayers.
