Tariq Anwar Urges Muslim Leaders to Address Concerns with Congress Top Leadership

New Delhi: Congress MP Tariq Anwar has appealed to the party’s Muslim leaders to directly communicate with the top leadership if they feel sidelined within the party.

This statement comes in the wake of former Congress leader Shakeel Ahmed’s criticism of Rahul Gandhi, whom he described as an insecure and fearful leader. Following this, senior Congress leader Rashid Alvi claimed that Muslim leaders are being neglected and expressed concerns over the difficulty in securing meetings with Rahul Gandhi.

Responding to these comments, Tariq Anwar said in a conversation in New Delhi that such views reflect personal sentiments. He emphasized that as a senior leader and former Congress MP, anyone with grievances should bring them up with the party leadership. He added that if there are concerns about collective leadership not progressing, these must be discussed openly.

Addressing statements by Congress MP Manickam Tagore, Anwar remarked that any internal dissatisfaction should be identified and resolved properly. He highlighted that Congress, being a national party, must remain strong and work towards strengthening democracy in India for the future.

Regarding comments made by Congress leader Karti Chidambaram, Anwar from Katihar, Bihar, said that there is likely a basis to what was stated. He noted that debate continues on whether simultaneous elections are appropriate, emphasizing that the Constitution grants states rights which must not be undermined.

On the topic of Operation Sindoor, Anwar recalled that the Indian Army was dominant over Pakistan during the operation. However, he expressed regret that the leadership at the time did not capitalize on this advantage, resulting in a lost opportunity, as Pakistan was reluctant for war.

Lastly, Anwar referred to the slogan “Vande Mataram,” noting its significance during the freedom struggle and its continuing status as a symbol of India’s independence.
