Tarek Anwar Criticizes BJP Over Pakistans Threats Regarding Indus Water Treaty

New Delhi, August 14: Congress MP Tarek Anwar targeted the BJP and the central government on various political and international issues on Friday. He advised against taking Rahul Gandhi‘s alleged comments about Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni too seriously. Anwar also responded to threats from Pakistan regarding the Indus Water Treaty.

When asked about BJP leaders’ criticism of Rahul Gandhi’s remarks about Meloni, Anwar stated that the issue does not warrant serious attention. He suggested that Gandhi may have made the comment in a light-hearted manner during a conversation. “I was not present at the moment, so I cannot comment definitively. However, based on what I have heard from others, it seems that Rahul Gandhi made the remark in jest,” he said.

Regarding Gandhi’s comments about the RSS, Anwar emphasized the need to examine historical facts concerning the organization’s role. He pointed out that during the freedom struggle, when the nation required sacrifice and commitment, questions were raised about the RSS’s contributions.

In response to Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s praise for Donald Trump and claims of U.S. mediation in the India-Pakistan conflict, Anwar stated that the Indian government should clarify this assertion. “If the Prime Minister of Pakistan is making such claims publicly, our Prime Minister should come forward to clarify whether these assertions are accurate,” he said.

On the threats from Pakistan regarding the Indus Water Treaty, Anwar noted that India’s actions are based on specific reasons. He accused Pakistan of being involved in continuous terrorist activities.

Anwar remarked that maintaining normal relations between the two countries has become challenging due to ongoing terrorist incidents from Pakistan. He referenced a recent incident in Kashmir that resulted in the loss of innocent lives.

When BJP leaders labeled Rahul Gandhi as a failed comedian, Anwar pointed out that such comments from the BJP and RSS are not new. He stated that these groups have consistently spread false narratives and rumors about Gandhi’s character and persona.
