Tamil Nadu Launches 24/7 Control Room for Hostel Student Complaints

Chennai, September 23 (Daily Kiran) : The Tamil Nadu Minister for Social Justice, Vanni Arasu, inaugurated a 24-hour control room on Wednesday to address complaints from students living in government hostels managed by the Adi Dravidar Welfare Directorate. This initiative aims to strengthen the grievance redressal system within the social justice department’s hostels and provide immediate solutions to student issues.

Students residing in these hostels can now report complaints related to food, basic facilities, and other concerns. They can reach out via phone, WhatsApp, or even through the social media platform X to voice their grievances.

Every complaint received at the control room will be promptly brought to the attention of the relevant authorities. Appropriate actions will then be taken to ensure a swift resolution to the students’ problems.

After launching the control room, Minister Arasu engaged directly with students, inquiring about the basic amenities available in the hostels and the welfare arrangements in place. The department’s director will review the complaints received daily and monitor their resolution. Weekly reports on complaints and their outcomes will be submitted to the Minister of Social Justice and the department’s secretary.

Dr. N. Subbaiyan (IAS), Secretary of the Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department, along with Dr. K. Senthilraj (IAS), who is handling the additional responsibilities of the Adi Dravidar Welfare Directorate, and other senior officials were present at the inauguration.
