Hacker Arrested for SSC GD Online Exam Cheating in Greater Noida

A hacker known as Devil was arrested for orchestrating exam fraud during the SSC GD online exam, using proxy servers to facilitate cheating.

Greater Noida, September 23 (Daily Kiran) : A significant crackdown on a cheating ring was carried out by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) in Greater Noida. The STF arrested Arun Kumar, also known as ‘Devil’, who was wanted for hacking the SSC GD Constable online exam. The arrest took place on September 22, 2026, in the Shahbad Dairy area of Delhi.

Kumar is accused of manipulating the source files of the exam server to control candidates’ computers from outside the examination centers using a proxy server. Following his arrest, the STF seized numerous electronic devices allegedly used for the cheating operations. The haul included 12 open TFT screens, two laptops, a handheld metal detector, eight VGA switches, 11 Raspberry Pi devices, and several other technical gadgets.

The STF’s investigation revealed that on May 22, during the SSC GD Constable online exam held in Balaji Digital Zone, Greater Noida, the gang had set up a proxy server and hacked the exam server, enabling candidates to cheat. In a previous operation, seven individuals, including the main accused Pradeep Chauhan and hacker Amit Rana, were arrested, with approximately 50 lakh rupees in cash and various technical instruments confiscated. So far, a total of 12 suspects have been arrested in connection with this case.

As the investigation progressed, more evidence emerged, including modified TFT screens and Raspberry Pi devices used for the exam fraud. The STF found that hackers Amit Rana and Arun Kumar had decoded and altered the source files of the exam server, making it possible to facilitate cheating via the proxy server.

During questioning, Kumar, who is about 30 years old and holds a BA, revealed that he completed a one-year computer fundamentals course at ITI Jahangirpuri. He reportedly became involved in technical cheating and hacking activities while preparing for competitive exams in Mukherjee Nagar, Delhi, in 2019. Kumar gained expertise in hacking and server manipulation, operating under the alias ‘Devil’.

The STF discovered connections between Kumar and individuals involved in exam fraud across Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Bihar, Jharkhand, and some northeastern states. His alleged involvement also extends to a nursing staff officer online exam fraud case in Sitapur in 2024, where he provided software for setting up a proxy server.

Kumar is also wanted in connection with a case registered at Talgaon police station in Sitapur, where he allegedly supplied a pen drive with software to the main accused for rebooting the system. The STF is now gathering more information about Kumar’s activities and the broader network involved in exam fraud.
