Mysuru, August 1: Swami Tyagishwaranand, the secretary of the Ramakrishna Ashram in Davangere, commented on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Mysuru. He emphasized that the Prime Minister is focused on strengthening the legacy of education, culture, and religion. Modi is consistently working towards achieving these goals.
On Saturday, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Center, known as Vivek Smarak, in Mysuru. This center commemorates Swami Vivekananda’s historic visit to Mysuru in November 1892 during his journey across India.
Before the inauguration, Swami Tyagishwaranand spoke with a news agency, stating, “The main objective of Vivek Smarak is to educate and inspire the youth. Everything we do is guided by our core principles and our motto. Today’s youth are the future of India, and our role is to inspire and guide them. Our goal is to eliminate ignorance through the ideal of ‘Atmano Mokshartham Jagaddhitaya Cha,’ which means working for the welfare of the world while achieving spiritual progress.”
He further noted that Swami Vivekananda’s life and teachings are meant for everyone, especially the youth. He is truly regarded as India’s ‘Youth Icon.’ Swamiji always used inspiring and impactful language to energize the youth, reminding them that “divinity is hidden in every soul.” He taught that once the divinity within awakens, one can achieve anything they desire.
Swami Tyagishwaranand also highlighted the Prime Minister’s achievements, indicating that Modi has focused on strengthening fundamental areas such as improving education, increasing learning opportunities, promoting Indian culture, and reinforcing the country’s eternal religious heritage. He is persistently working towards these objectives.
The Vivek Smarak, established at the historic Niranjan Math, spans over 81,000 square feet and includes a main building and an adjoining block. It features a 4D experience center, an exhibition hall, an amphitheater with a seating capacity for nearly 700 people, classrooms, conference rooms, a library, reading room, meditation and yoga rooms, and a book stall. The center also provides special facilities for students preparing for competitive exams.
Dedicated to the life, message, and ideals of Swami Vivekananda, this cultural youth center aims to serve as a vibrant hub for value-based education, leadership development, and personality building. It is expected to benefit over 10,000 students from nearby educational institutions, as well as urban and rural youth, through lectures, workshops, short-term courses, and capacity-building programs inspired by Swami Vivekananda’s vision for nation-building and character development.
