Ayodhya, August 1: The recent theft of donations intended for the Ram Temple has sparked protests in Parliament. Pappu Yadav, an independent MP from Purnia, faced accusations from the BJP of disrespecting Sanatan Dharma. In response, Samajwadi Party MLA Pallavi Patel clarified that the protesters aimed not to insult any religion but to seek answers from the government regarding the theft.
In an interview, Patel expressed that the feelings of those protesting have been hurt. She emphasized that if there has been any theft or irregularity concerning the donations, the government must provide a clear response. She noted that citizens are using various platforms to voice their concerns and want to know who is responsible for any incidents and what actions will be taken against the culprits.
Patel stated that the public seeks transparency. If an investigation is underway, the government should offer clear information to prevent any rumors or confusion.
Discussing the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections in 2027, Patel remarked that the elections could bring new political dynamics. She suggested that many old political equations might change this time. Uttar Pradesh has always been alert to contemporary issues, and all political parties are working to strengthen their organizations while addressing public concerns.
Patel mentioned that the Samajwadi Party is engaging with its workers in Ayodhya to review organizational preparations. They are also strategizing on how to communicate the problems and questions of the public to the government.
Additionally, Samajwadi Party MLA Kamal Akhtar criticized the BJP government. He pointed out that during the nearly nine-and-a-half years of BJP rule in Uttar Pradesh, every section of society has faced some issues. Key problems such as unemployment, inflation, farmers’ issues, and law and order are prevalent, yet the government seems reluctant to discuss them.
Akhtar accused the BJP of failing to fulfill its promises made during the elections, asserting that the public will demand accountability for these unkept promises.
Responding to the allegations of disrespecting Sanatan Dharma, Akhtar stated that the BJP does not hold a monopoly on any religion. He affirmed that every individual in India knows how to respect their faith, and there is no need for anyone to preach about religion to others.
