Mysuru, August 1: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Center, known as ‘Vivek Smarak’, in Karnataka’s Mysuru on Saturday. This memorial commemorates Swami Vivekananda’s historic visit to Mysuru in November 1892 during his travels across India. Preparations for the event are now complete.
Ahead of PM Modi’s arrival, a significant police presence has been deployed along Narayan Shastri Road. Authorities are on high alert along the Prime Minister’s route, with public transport suspended until noon. Barricades have also been erected around the Vivek Memorial.
Swami Muktidanand, head of the Mysuru Ramakrishna Ashram, expressed his joy in a conversation with a news agency, stating, “We are thrilled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Mysuru for the historic inauguration of the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Center, ‘Vivek Smarak’. We warmly welcome him and all those attending the event.”
He emphasized that the center is dedicated to the youth and the general public. “I am confident that the youth of Mysuru and beyond will attentively listen to Prime Minister Modi’s message and strive to dedicate themselves to serving our nation, making it great,” he added.
Swami Muktidanand noted that this project began approximately 10 to 12 years ago. It has culminated in a beautiful facility where visitors can view the memorial of Swami Vivekananda, who stayed in Mysuru in 1892. The center will also offer resources for those preparing for competitive exams, along with a general course focused on excellence and capacity building based on Swami Vivekananda’s thoughts on the Indian knowledge system and character development.
A disciple named Ponappa shared, “Swami Vivekananda has inspired me since childhood. His messages of strength and courage remain relevant for all future generations. This grand institution, located in the heart of the city, will continue to inspire millions of youth to follow the path he laid out.”
He added, “The inauguration of this significant project by the Prime Minister of India is a source of inspiration for all of us. The enthusiasm shown by millions in the city to see and hear the Prime Minister is a testament to his popularity. This will further elevate the importance of this movement and the magnificent ‘Vivek Smarak’.”
Ponappa concluded by stating that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the Indian government has initiated numerous initiatives. Everyone should embrace the Prime Minister’s vision and work towards making India a ‘developed nation’. This is a collective project.
