Mumbai, October 6 (Daily Kiran) : Actor Manish Nagdev, known for his role as Toshu in the popular television series “Anupama,” recently opened up about his acting journey and future aspirations in an interview.
Having been part of the show for two years, Nagdev has made a significant mark with his character, which has sparked considerable discussion among viewers. However, he expressed a desire for the audience to recognize him not just as Toshu, but for his overall acting range.
In the interview, Nagdev emphasized, “What matters most to me is maintaining my identity among the audience. I don’t want to be known solely for this one character I’ve portrayed recently. I want people to understand that I have the capability to play various roles as an actor.”
Reflecting on his two-year journey with Toshu, he stated that he has deeply understood his character and how viewers perceive him as an actor. Over time, he has worked hard to break any specific image that may have formed in the audience’s mind about him.
He noted, “When an artist is involved in a TV show, they must fully immerse themselves in their character and the storyline. It’s crucial that the character is portrayed in alignment with how the story is meant to be told.”
Nagdev also shared how television allows actors to build a strong connection with the audience. Being part of the same show for an extended period enables viewers to bond with the character and consider them part of their family. However, he believes that one character should not define an actor’s entire career.
Looking ahead, he mentioned, “When ‘Anupama’ concludes, I will strive to choose a character that is completely different from those I have played so far. If you look at my career, I’ve always tried to take on diverse roles. For me, every new role is an opportunity to present myself in a new light.”
Currently, Nagdev portrays Toshu in Rajan Shahi and Deepa Shahi’s daily soap “Anupama,” a role he took on in October 2024 after a 15-year leap in the storyline. He succeeded actor Gaurav Sharma in this pivotal role.
