Sunny Deol Celebrates 30 Years of Jeet, Remembers Character Karan Fondly

Mumbai, August 23: Actor Sunny Deol expressed that the character ‘Karan’ still holds a special place in his heart as his romantic-action film ‘Jeet’ marks its 30th anniversary since its release on August 23, 1996.

Sunny shared a scene from the film on his official Instagram account, featuring his co-star Karisma Kapoor. He thanked the audience for their enduring love for the movie over the years.

In his Instagram post, Sunny wrote, “30 years of Jeet. Karan, his love, his anger, his sacrifice—a character that still resides in my heart. Thank you all for showering so much love on this film for three decades.”

Directed and written by Raj Kanwar, ‘Jeet’ was produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under the banner of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment.

In addition to Sunny and Karisma, the film also featured notable performances from Salman Khan, Tabu, and Amrish Puri.

The storyline revolves around a ruthless hitman, Karan (Sunny Deol), who falls in love with Kajal (Karisma Kapoor). However, Karan faces conflict with his crime boss Gajraj (Amrish Puri) due to Kajal’s impending marriage to her childhood friend Raju (Salman Khan).

Upon its release, ‘Jeet’ became a massive box office success and was one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of that year. The film also inspired a Bengali remake titled ‘Lal Badshah’.

Besides ‘Jeet’, Sunny and Karisma also collaborated in the film ‘Ajay’, which was released in the same year, directed by Sunil Darshan.

Recently, Sunny appeared in the period drama ‘Bantwara 1947’, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan Productions, featuring actors like Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, and Karan Deol in significant roles.

‘Bantwara 1947’ is inspired by Asghar Wajahat’s play “Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya O Jamya Nai.”
